Stamford advertising firm wins technology award - The Advocate

STAMFORD — Digital advertising firm MediaCrossing earned the top award Tuesday at a ceremony in Wallingford as the fastest-growing technology business in Connecticut, in a program run by the Connecticut Technology Council and professional services firm Marcum LLP.

As the 10th anniversary Marcum Tech Top 40 winner, Stamford-based MediaCrossing has charted striking growth since its 2012 founding. Its revenues increased by nearly 300 percent last year, and it is on track to record similar growth in the next two years. The company does not provide specific numbers for earnings.

MediaCrossing also won in the new media, internet and telecommunications category.

The new accolades follow MediaCrossing’s winning of the 2016 Marcum Tech Top 40 Accelerator Award, an accolade for companies that have experienced significant revenue growth, but lack three years of financial records.

A number of other southwestern Connecticut companies also won Tech Top 40 awards this year for producing at least $3 million in annual revenues and a four-year record of growth. Revolution Lighting Technologies prevailed in the advanced manufacturing category. Newtown-based ESCOAdvisors won in the software division, and New Haven-based Alexion Pharmaceuticals, which recently announced a move to Boston, earned the life sciences honor. Stamford-based Arccos Golf won the Accelerator Award.

MediaCrossing focuses on “middle-market” brands and advertising agencies across the country in live events, pharmaceuticals, higher education, financial services, food and beverages and other packaged goods.

The firm has benefited from a $250,000 investment from Connecticut Innovations, a state-chartered business investing and consulting organization.

MediaCrossing, which employs about 15, has operated at 9 W. Broad St. since March. It outgrew previous offices at Landmark Square, 300 Main St. and the Stamford Innovation Center. Now using about 4,300 square feet at its current address, the firm has the option to take more space there.

“Stamford provides us with quick access to talent from New York,” MediaCrossing CEO Michael Kalman said in a recent interview. “We think it is one of the hubs of commerce in the Northeast. We like the city and its access to culture. I think Stamford is a good place for us.”
