One month has passed since the sexual assault allegations against Harvey Weinstein sent a ripple effect through Hollywood and beyond — prompting thousands of women to share their own stories using the hashtag #metoo.

Since then, allegations of sexual harassment and assault have been leveled against a number of public figures, including actors, directors, lawmakers and journalists.

We’ve seen this all before. In 1992, the year after Anita Hill’s claims against Clarence Thomas, complaints to the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission rose 73 percent. And yet, then, no similar movement emerged.

What’s different this time? And how much of it has to do with the power of a simple hashtag to turn up the volume?

Join Jessica Bennett, The New York Times’s new gender editor, as she leads a discussion with Amanda Hess, a David Carr fellow and technology reporter, and Jenna Wortham, a staff writer for The New York Times Magazine and the co-host of “Still Processing,” on technology’s role in the continuing conversation about sexual harassment and assault.
